I have 8K capable HDMI w/ ethernet cables rated for 48Gbps. When I do direct connect from the Apple TV to the TV, I can get Dolby Vision at 4K 60hz. When I run the Apple TV passthru through the receiver to the TV, the best video I can get is 4K SDR 60hz.
